FSSAI

FSSAI Registration refers to the registration process under the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), which is responsible for regulating food safety and standards in India. If you are in the food business, whether you're a manufacturer, distributor, retailer, or food service provider (like restaurants or catering), you need to obtain FSSAI registration or license.

Here’s a detailed guide on FSSAI Registration:

Who Needs FSSAI Registration?

There are three types of registrations based on the size and type of the food business:

  1. FSSAI Registration (for small businesses):
    • For small-scale food businesses or those with an annual turnover of less than ₹12 lakh.
    • Typically, this applies to small food vendors, small manufacturing units, home-based food businesses, or small eateries.
  2. FSSAI License (for medium to large businesses):
    • For businesses with an annual turnover between ₹12 lakh to ₹20 crore.
    • This applies to larger food manufacturers, packers, distributors, and food businesses that handle or manufacture food in significant quantities.
  3. Central License (for large businesses with a nationwide reach):
    • For food businesses operating across multiple states or internationally, with an annual turnover exceeding ₹20 crore.
    • This is required for large manufacturers, food importers, and large restaurants or chains.
